A further anti-coup protest

November 14th, 2006 by The Lost Boy

There will be a further coup protest on Saturday. This one looks like it might be a little busier than previous gatherings. From The Nation:

“An anti-coup action group will hold a demonstration at Thammasat University on Saturday to demand an immediate lifting of the martial law, the group announced Sunday.

“The September 19 Network Against the Coup told a press conference at the October 14 Memorial that the group would hold a public hearing for the people to air their opposition to the September 19 coup.

“The event would be held at 4 pm inside the compound of the Tha Phrachan campus of the university.

“The group would parade from the university on Rajdamnoen Avenue to the Democracy Monument at 6 pm and would stop briefly to mourn the democracy destroyed by the coup makers.”

I admire September 19 Network Against Coup D’etat’s enthusiasm but I am starting to think they are a group of idealists. I will be at the protest on Saturday regardless.
