The latest anti-coup protest passed peacefully on Saturday November 11. The demonstration began at 4 p.m. and drew an initial crowd of around 100 people which expanded as the evening dawned and a stage was set up. The atmosphere was relaxed and there was no sign of any opposition groups in the area. Once again, the thrust of the demonstration was on a call for democracy and a return to the 1997 Constitution.
Numbers were considerably up from the first protest on September 22. This certainly provides a glimmer of hope that people are now not afraid to voice their concerns and discontent, although it should be noted that even with the current air of calm the numbers expressing their concerns are still relatively low.
