Anti-coup march draws up to 500 people
Yesterday there was an anti-coup protest near Khaosan Road (an anti-martial law protest) organised by September 19 Network Against Coup D’etat. There were around 50-60 people at Thammasat Uni and another 300 or so at Sunam Luang. People congregated around 4 p.m.

There were the usual obligatory speeches that lasted for several hours, and then the march began and the anti-coup contingent took to the streets and made their way up to Democracy Monument. The feeling was a little edgy but overall it was one of peace.

Police presence was minimal. These people certainly were not afraid to make their opinions known. Several military buses with personnel drove by passed the demonstration which brought on some jovial heckling.

The crowd was still relatively small considering it has been two months since the coup. The protest occurred without incident and at around 7.30 p.m. the gathering continued on from Democracy Monument to the Royal Army Headquarters.
