Balibo goes 3D?
So Balibo has been renamed The Balibo Conspiracy in the UK to make it sound a little more exciting, perhaps. There was a benefit screening of the movie last night at Curzon Mayfair in London. That's all well and good, but what inspired Metro to run this picture of a cinema full of Asian people wearing coats and 3D glasses? And look at how many people are smiling. Was Metro expecting a lot of jokes in the movie?

LOL. Obviously some lazy person using stock photos. I was at the screening. Definitely NOT in 3D. Definitely not a funny film – but some moments were funny especially the comment about why our Queen's head was on the Australian coin, Lapaglia's Roger East replies, "That's a very good question." – that always gets laughs.
Hi Becks. What did people in the UK think of the movie?
I think it's been well-received. I don't know exactly what the viewpoint is on the 'conspiracy' part of the film in the UK. Obviously some people are taking it seriously, as shown by the attendance at last night's gala. I still haven't made my mind up yet. I have head lots of conflicting stories about 'the truth'. I don't tend to like to get too involved in politics or activist actions personally, but I can see where most of them are coming from and fighting for.
I know that Horta was at Bradford Uni recently. I missed that.
I was at the film's european premier in London last October, and I'm going to see the film again this Saturday at the London Australian Film Festival.
I have just sprung on your blog by searching for info about the gala. I am addicted to your Timor-Leste articles. I was even reading them at work!
I am actually going to TL in May this year. I have been inspired by the film to see that country that is at the heart of all of this. I am an aspiring travel writer/photographer, trying a career change, 26 yrs old, from the midlands. I'll email you with more details.
