Super Supersub and Club Culture’s Grand “Opening”

I’d probably call it the party of the year if it hadn’t finished so early and been so unbelievably cramped in there. Last Saturday’s Supersub party was immense. It was held at Café Democ and was just the sort of party that Bangkok nightlife has been crying out for recently. The Supersub parties are always some of the best in the city. They don’t rely on booking big name DJs, but rather have a quality product based around local DJs. It’s rare to see such a formula achieve that much success.

Stargazer is one of the main reasons why Supersub parties are so good. His visuals are some of the best in Bangkok, and his DJ sets sit on the tougher side of electro. Although the party was supposed to be a “new rave” event, the music was mostly electro, with a bit of dressing up from the DJs.

The Supersub parties are one of the things I’ll miss about Bangkok when I’m gone. Check the website for the next event. The parties tend to occur sporadically in various places.

If you’re in Bangkok this Saturday then you ought to pop into Club Culture for the grand opening. The club has already been open a few weeks, but this is the big party to make it a bit more official. The club is still not quite finished, so there may well be another grand opening in the near future. In the meantime they’ve invited Ron Carroll over from America. I don’t know much about Ron Carroll, but I gather that he often sings very well and DJs, well, very often. The live PAs should be worth checking out at least.

Of course, the real reason to go on Saturday is because there’s a free bar from 9 until 11 p.m. The city’s press and vaguely important people have all been invited to the grand opening, so no doubt it will be very busy. Door tax is 500 baht.

Party on.
