At the grand reopening of Kongju Korean restaurant I was surprised to be given a list of “Celebrities and Movie Stars”. Great, I thought, who will I get to see? A quick scanning of the list revealed that I am far from clued up on my Thai celebrities; I didn’t recognise a single name. When the Thai celebs started arriving, I had a difficult time deciding who were press, PR, and actual susperstars. My awareness of Thai pop culture is far more lacking than I had at first thought.

I took the opportunity to photograph the celebs that people seemed to be most excited about. I still have no idea who any of them were, so I thought I’d make this into a kind of game to help me work out who is who. For this game, all you have to do is tell me who each celebrity is and what they do. There are no hard prizes as such, but you will win my admiration and respect.

So without further ado, here is The Lost Boy’s great celebrity challenge: who are these people? (Answers revealed as soon as someone tells me.)

1.) This girl was very friendly. She looks like she’d be right at home in a soap opera. So who is she?
Answer: Actress and singer Cheer

2.) This pretty little thing turned out to be the host of the evening. She wasn’t particularly interesting, but she had a loud voice.
Answer: VJ Nadia

3.) Here we come to my favourite celeb of them all. Again, she has the appearance of a soap opera actress, but look at her face. Oh! So cute. She was another celeb wearing a red ribbon. I asked a few people what they were in aid of but for some reason nobody would tell me.

4.) Here are two older celebs. The one on the left seemed quite important because the host made a point of calling her on stage to show off her outfit. Her costume was so good that at first I mistook her for, well, whatever it is she was dressed as.

5.) Look at this! A whole family of celebs. Or are they just important people? The girl on the right I deduced as having minimal importance because at one point she came and spoke to me; I think she was something to do with the PR.

6.) Now there’s a face to make your heart miss a beat. Despite refusing to dress up, this starlet radiated understated style. Who she is though, I have no idea?

7.) This girl is apparently someone’s counsin, although I had no idea at the time because she was much shorter than I had anticipated. She certainly knew how to play the game, strutting in as she did with an air of nonchalonce before talking to the press.
