  1. So I deliberately liked this on Facebook! Great reflection Matt, and succinctly states what I think a lot of people also feel. Not to mention the fact that inane sharing of stupid quizzes and pictures of animal abuse to (ironically) stop animal abuse have dramatically reduced my Facebook time in recent months! Apart from the issues you raise, I feel that Facebook has also become something similar to the 90's phenomenon of the 'forwarded email chain'. It is unfortunate as, similar to you, living in a different country to many of my friends I was happy to use Facebook as a way to connect with them and their lives. In that respect I don't necessarily feel left out from social gatherings or events, but I am increasingly noticing the 'branding' that you speak of and have probably succumbed to that myself. As you lead the charge, I think I may follow suit with similar action.
