It's been another week of flood news, mostly about Thailand. I think people are really suffering from flood fatigue now. This has been going on for so long now that people just want it to happen and be done with it. The use of social media is oft referred to, but what's perhaps what's most interesting is the large number of people sharing photos of the flooding.

This seems to be a fairly new thing in terms of the sheer volume of people out there snapping on cameras and phones. There's a group of FlickR called Thailand's Great Flood 2011 that's been pretty busy and has about two dozen members. Check out thai-on's photos, they're really very good.

My photos aren't a patch on what most of these folks are snapping. Lillian Suwanrumpha has put together some great photo essays on Asian Correspondent. And there are many more. You can check out some of mine on FlickR.

Now for a few links…

This is a pretty solid overview of the flooding situation in Thailand.

Sesame Street International: Pakistani Edition Of Iconic Kids' Show Launched
Anything involving Sesame Street gets my attention. I'm told that Plan will be involved in this in some capacity, so that's something to look forward to. I didn't realise they did Sesame Street in so many languages, including Chinese:

Now that's something you don't see every day.

Cambodia floods bring mounting disease toll
This is something that could happen in Thailand. People now are starting to talk about possible scenarios involving things like water-borne diseases and even civil unrest. There's a long road ahead.

Bangkok Bagels also gets a mention this week. I went there for lunch today and had a great bagel.

[Thai] Wife strangled after smashing up husband’s Star Wars toys
This story is about as bizarre as the headline suggests.

One of those moments
Tales From The Hood shows how aid does sometimes do some good.

That'll do for now. Here are some Twitter users you might find interesting. This week, some of my new followers: @Damian_McD, @monasf, @cblaguardia, @davtox, @Attakrit, @jaaomcm3, @chriswotton
