  1. I am inclined to say no myself, after years in sea. Going back to oz, no shock, but maybe boredom. Travel gives different perspectives, better able to assess your own culture.

    Sarcasm is a good antidote to any perceived self awkwardness.

    I think a lot of it depends on age. Those of us who grew up in mainly one culture and left after reaching adulthood will never change or "lose" our culture that much. Younger people or those less entrenched in their ways may suffer from true reverse-culture shock IMO.

  3. I kinda understand that. To me it's not too easy to switch back to Bangkok mode. But after living overseas for a long time, it transformed you. My old Thai friends say I haven't changed. But really, it's inside.
