Roy L. Pearson: The most evil judge in America?

June 13th, 2007 by The Lost Boy

It makes me sick to think of what Judge Roy L. Pearson is doing to the Chung family in Washington D.C. It’s unbelievable and looks like some sort of bad joke more than anything. The Chung family runs a dry cleaning business and they lost a pair of trousers belonging to Pearson. It sucks, but it happens. What is he going to do? He could get a new pair of trousers, or he could sue the Chung family for $54 million.

The Chungs had a sign in window of their shop, since removed, that claimed “Satisfaction Guaranteed” and “Same Day Service”. Pearson believes he was misled by the sign and now he is hell bent on ruining this poor family. Luckily for him, he can represent himself, whereas the Chung family have to use their own money. A fund has been set up to help the Chungs pay for their legal expenses. Visit the Custom Cleaners Defense Fund here. As it stands, the fund has raised barely 10% of the funds needed to cover costs, let alone $54 million should this deranged judge actually win.

I agree - totally obscene. I wonder whether common sense will prevail on this one?

That’s completely ridiculous. How can a lost pair of pants equal $54 million? And he being a judge and all should have some respect for the legal system and all the frivilous lawsuits flooding it. I can’t imagine that he could possibly win this case.

Must have missed this one but sounds about par for the course. Wasn’t it the Eagles who sang, “lets kill all the lawyers, lets kill ‘em tonight”?

I read about this while i n the US and I believe the Chung’s tried to settle the case for a few thousand dollars but he rejected the offer and proceeded with the lawsuit. Most of those damages are coming in the form of punitive damages and no jury is going to award that much.

I heard the guy was weeping about his pants on TV. Can you imagine?

The articles that I have read about Roy L. Pearson and his garbage law suit is unbelieveable… and whats even worse is that after the case was heard and judged…the idiot still has a licence to practice law… and still is a judge? He has made a joke out of our legal system… and so has Judge Bartnoff for not making an example of this idiot.
I guess he needed some other sort of financial aid after he lost his case for support from his divorce.

The man is a total jerk. It is that kind of law suits that make the American legalsystem a joke in the eyes of the world. How the hell could any court even accept such a crazy case. I feel sorry for the owners of the drycleanershop. Roy L: Pearson is clearly a nutjob and needs mental care insted off letting him waste taxpayer money in court. This case proves that the legal system in america is crying out for reforms.
