Lost Boy version 3 is a go

April 17th, 2008 by The Lost Boy

Enough already. I’ve spent the past five hours updating Wordpress and installing my new theme. I haven’t finished, but I’ve done as much as my brain can handle for one night. Let me know what you think of things anyway. I’ve added a video function and will be making and uploading my own videos in the near future. I’m aiming for one a week.

Tasks to complete the new theme:

  • Add sponsored footer links – done
  • Edit CSS to change colors and font sizes – almost done
  • Add horizontal drop-down menus to header nav for old articles – done a different way
  • Add logo, favicon – done
  • Move search box to sidebar – done
  • Create advertising page – done, to be comlpeted
  • Add Twitter to the sidebar – done
  • Buy top-100 blogs script and implement – bought and almost done
  • Change background – done
  • Cleanup single.php – done
  • Edit feed widget – done, to be modified a bit more
  • Add subscribe options to single.php – done, also add to page template
  • Add email subscribe option – not done, thinking about it
  • Upload photo and edit footer text – done

Lots to do. Anything else you would like to see? What this update signifies is that I will be putting a bit more effort into writing better content.

Wow Matt this looks amazing. I have no idea what Twitter is…is it to do with SMSing updates about yourself to someplace so that they appear somewhere else on the web? My blog prostrates at the feet of your blog…

Now it can compete with NationMultimedia.com.

In your case, you INTENDED to change your layout.

In my case, my stupidity and a virus-filled computer forced me into it.. Now it looks like poo poo.

    Well, minimal looks all right.

Like the minimalism, but doesn't look as fresh and "Thai" as your old template. Intentionally? I'd add some color.

WP 2.5 is a real upgrade – many old plugins will break. But good you took the plunge. I'd upgrade always immediately if a new version is released – otherwise you accumulate issues.

Yes, some color will be coming soon.

  6. Chris Says:

By simply changing the background colour to a darker one, you'd improve the look and feel of the theme by ten fold.

WP 2.5 is the nuts! I'm a HUGE WP fan :)

    Hi,

nice new template, suppose you have a lot of things in store for us: great!

    two things though:

    - hurry up to bring colors, right now it's a little bit dry. Let's Songkran spirit touch your blog :), miss the logo of the former template

    - in your social bookmarking line, you should add http://www.mixx.com/, you'll get more serp juice from mixx than any other network (even new york post is using it by now), and it would be easier for me to vote for you then :)

    keep up the good work!

The logo will be back shortly. Got so much to do, but I wanted to give the theme a trial run to make sure I like it.

Looks great, looking forward to the rest of your adjustments.

Hey… there's a familiar face in one of those header pictures..

looks good, but i prefer the old one…maybe i am not too comfortable with change.

I like change for the sake of progess. The main reason I chose this theme was for the video feature.
