Masamanamania

Since I returned to the UK I've had to start cooking a lot more, if only because eating out is so ridiculously expensive in this country. My previous forays into the world of cuisine have been shameful. During my final week in Timor-Leste, I tried to make some kind of pasta sauce using cheese spread and chili powder. It tasted so bad I had to throw it in the bin.

In London, though, I've been keeping it together and cooking all manner of stir fries and curries. I'll admit to occasionally using stir-in sauces, but there have been a few creative moments, including tonight's incredible masaman gai.

Having never made masaman before, I wasn't certain how this would turn out, but I think I did a pretty good job. I really miss Thai and Indo food, but I take some comfort in the variety of awesome ingredients I can pick up from China Town here. There is essentially no dish I can't make.

I was just a bit disappointed that I was only cooking for myself, especially as I made enough for about four people.

I'm not one for dinner parties, but honestly, this needed to be tasted by the people of the world.

OMG. You're going to school, you're keeping up with the schedules, (and I guess) you're wearing actual shoes and pants, and now you're cooking??

    WTF is going on??
