Page Rank update
July 26th, 2008 by The Lost Boy
Google is updating the toolbar PR display at the moment. I've gone back down to PR4. 2Bangkok has dropped to PR5 while Thai Blogs has gone up to PR5. Sajal Kayan went up to PR6. I haven't noticed many other changes. The toolbar updates usually take a few days to complete. Nothing too much to worry about either way. Suitable bragging rights if you go up.

Hiya,
I think you know — and if you don't, then I'm glad i wrote! — that the Toolbar is infamously out-of-date. A site's true pagerank (set by an average of about 8 servers) can be queried through Google directly using software or any number of websites.
I'm still waiting for The Ghost to get out of the Sandbox and be assigned a PR. Hopefully, I'll jump higher than my current #50.

The toolbar is updated once every three or so months. PR changes from one day to the next, but the toolbar snapshot is a decent indicator. I will write a post about PR next week as people always seem to be confused by what it really means.

I stopped worrying about PR several years ago. More importantly – where you you rank in Google searches for target keywords, how many visitors do you get and how much money are you making…? PR is a small part of the total algorithm for ranking.

I agree with Jamie! PR is overrated and only useful to know whether a site is worth swapping links with.

Hello,
PR ha nothing to do with your traffic, it is overly rated by many SEO professionals,it hrdly matters to layman and sites are made for common people.
