Phuket sales girls and my first decent clubbing discovery
Since I arrived in Phuket three months ago I’ve been desperately searching for some real nightlife. Recently, I’ve found a couple of places of note. One such place is Club Lime in Patong, located on the beach road next to Rock City and Club Andaman Resort.
I went to Club Lime for the first time on Friday night. What’s good about this place is that it pushes real dance music and the DJs are fairly decent. The music was primarily electro, with a bit of house and tech house to boot. It was real dance floor stuff, although Club Lime doesn’t have much of a dance floor. But still, there is space in front of the bar to dance.
The guys at Club Lime are looking to push clubbing in Phuket to new boundaries. Starting next month, there will be drum ‘n’ bass nights (which I might get involved in) and more DJs will be asked to play. Nakadia is due to play October 12, and after all the stick I’ve been giving her on the Bangkok Recorder forums, I’d like to see her play again.
The only thing with Club Lime is the people who go there. This is something that needs a bit of work. Hopefully a couple of articles I’m writing will drive some actual clubbers to the venue.
At the moment, it feels a bit like Bed Supperclub. Lime is full of old dudes and property sales girls. The sales girls in particular get on my nerves because they do nothing except take pictures of one another and rub their bodies on each other when everybody is looking. Sometimes they just pose and take their own pictures. I’ve never understood this.
One thing I’ve noticed about Phuket is that there are two types of people here: teachers and people working in real estate. Then there are the media people who write about the people working in real estate. If you enjoy talking about commissions and beauty salons then the sales girls will be happy to oblige. You wouldn’t believe how much money these girls are making as well; makes me think I should have been a sales girl.
Other than the sales girls issue, Club Lime is worth checking out.

Are you trying to single out a particular group of people? Maybe the reason that specific type of clubbers who usually go to this place might be because they just like the way it is.
Remember the place caters for everybody, not only for Matt.

It's the only place on the island that plays decent music and yet the crowd doesn't sit well with the whole place. It's halfway between a restaurant and a club (like Bed) but I want a more diverse range of people to start going there; preferably not people who just mince around taking pictures of themselves.
nothing new, The Kinks singing about it "People take pictures of each other, Just to prove that they really existed" hum that song to yourself and you can bear such situation with a smile. and look, other people taking pictures of ice cream.
'property sales girls' – don't know that species, but love that classification in categories. i guess they are like the paralegal and legal assistants girls. a new world to explore, (not.)

Dear Cool, vanalli, other dudes here too… we aren't like what u think. We just want to have some fun after depressing time at work, we paid for the drinks to have fun with our friends..so what is wrong with it..we dont want to be farang wife's like u thought.. we dont care what other people say about us..we respect the place at least. hi vanalli… you made a very right observation. you dont need to defend yourself or say sorry for what you wrote only because some strange girls post some comments here. as you can see from their comments, they didnt understand completely what you wrote in that article. so their claimed superior education cant be of a that high standard. only because some of them know how to open a bottle of red wine doesnt make them educated… from buying propery here and elsewhere in asia i have learned that especially in phuket people tend to have a loose mind (and body). maybe the environment with all those bars, cheap and esay sex, no limits has an influence on everybody working there, after some time and years. especially on young girls… clubbing with smart and nice people without a bunch of loose girls have yet to be invented in phuket…. but you can try singapore… there are even thai women that work in financial advisory, lawyers, or for the big 4… and sure there are totally different – but also have a lot of fun…. hve fun with the "phuket lifestyle", its nothing for good guys with a good heart… cheers !

Well after over 20 emails over this issue which first came from me.
I’d say it’s different attitude. The farang might just like to share his opinion which I find it’s pretty common thing to do. As a Thais, do not take any comments what so ever! The guy just saw something he never seen in any club, which I do agree. So for those who enjoy taking photos, rubbing bodies keep on doing so with confident ,with out having to care what other would think about! I’m not on anyone side but look to me like sometime there are others that react like a mirror for us to see ourselves. Don’t take it personal. That’s my opinion. Stay cool, stay pretty….:)
