  1. Thank goodness that those of us who live in Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland had no part in that 1963 Washington agreement. I mean…..the shame of it !!!

  2. About the full Strategic Development Plan – it is disappointing that La'o Hamutuk, who rightly have some respect amongst development partners, leak a draft document that is not for public release, then supply limited analysis and offer negative commentary.

It leads to misinformation – created by posts such as this one where you do not make the nature of the document clear, then go on criticise the english and content as if it is a finished piece of work. As a writer yourself you would understand the problems with this – I doubt you would want your drafts posted on the web and scrutinised.

Also confusing is the rush to discredit and "break down" the SDP – this kind of forward planning is an important step for Timor-Leste that perhaps should be encouraged with a constructive attitude.

  3. But surely it's less about discrediting the SDP, and more about offering opinions on it. The guys at LH can certainly offer some constructive comments, and the more time they have to do this, the better it will be, especially given how long the SDP is. LH wouldn't do this without good reason.

Point taken about the English and it only being a draft though.

  4. "Underlining this is the Xanana roadshow, which the prime minister is taking to every sub-district in the country" / Xanana learned that even in a luxury Toyota Land Cruiser, a tour on East Timor's broken roads can be fraught with danger. He did his back in, but was flown to Singapore for R&R.
    Poor Xanana!
