You can hire a longtail boat to Rang Yai at Laem Hin, where there is also a very nice seafood restaurant. Closer to land is Koh Maphrao where there is very little development and some floating seafood restaurants very popular with locals especially at the weekend.
I just stayed in Rangyai for one night ;) on last Saturday.
It was a cool lil bangalow which has a reasonable price.
It is an eco-bangalow. My friends love it!!
You guys should visit Rangyai island while you're in Phuket. (I really recommend)
it is very quiet, peaceful almost private compared to other islands or beaches around!

Sounds like a better option compared to the other crowded popular Phuket beaches.

Seems like a great and affordable place to experience what it feels to own a private beach :)
worth a visit.
