Sex and the City
After the fuss that has been made about the Sex and the City movie, I made a decision that I would not watch it. I stood corrected when I had a ticket bought for me, which led to a cinema outing with about 10 girls, all of whom were very excited.
I disliked Sex and the City very much. It isn’t just that the movie wasn’t made for me; I thought the whole thing was utterly pointless and a pain to watch. I have no interest in shoes, fashion labels, New York, whatever – but I enjoyed the TV series. The movie, however, was more than two hours of surprise reunions of characters who had been together on screen less than one minute previously. Throw in some rather dull storylines and you have the movie summed up.
The writing was sharp, the characters believable, but it just didn’t work – for me. Nobody in the movie had anything interesting to say. I think this movie is currently polarizing opinions. I’m glad I saw it, because otherwise I would have hated something I hadn’t even watched, but this was the only movie I have watched in a cinema that made me feel angry for its existence. I can’t really explain why.
I’m sure many of you have seen it, so I’m curious to hear your thoughts. The movie had the biggest opening ever for a romantic comedy.

No, have not seen it and will not see it either.
That is… unless the girlfriend has an other idea ;-)
I didn't LOVE SATC like most girls. I enjoy occasionally visit there. I would like to see how things unfold, so I am waiting for the DVD.
I did try at some point to get all caught up with SATC…peer pressure, really. I was so overwhelmed by the estrogen and all that insecure girly stuff. Like some people who said they wanted a shower after seeing a certain gritty movie, I needed to go out with my husband and his friends for some beer and guy humor after SATC marathon.
…..the original tv series was written and organized by prominent gay tv writers and producers and it was really a story about yuppie gay male characters and their promiscuous NYC Manhattan lives, then for marketing/audience optimization it got switched to a story about yuppie female characters, but if you step back and look at the series as the original gay series with the female characters serving really as avatars/masks for the various gay characters, it kind of makes more sense………….
Most Hollywood movies are made for a primary target audience of 15 year old boys (or those with the same mentality).
Sex and the City is Hollywood's "balance" for movies like Iron Man and 300.
Marge Simpson's quip: " Sex and the City? Is that the show about four women acting like gay guys?"
Live in fear, PeterS, live in fear.
I really do sorry :( matty
Don't be sorry! :p
I really don't have idea whats the fuss is about the movie. I think Iron Man is so much better than a bunch of ladies looking for sex with a good looking guy in NYC.
I don't think I'm going to watch this movie any time soon!
Matt I went to see it and i like it =] I guess most girls like it though. It well represents girls' attitude which some are not that good for u guys but we really are like that.
One i wanna recommend "Juno" Have u seen it?
I just shook my head and left to buy popcorn for 30 mins in the middle of the movie.
