Stereophonics set to bore Bangkok this weekend

April 23rd, 2008 by The Lost Boy

Despite being the dullest band on the planet, the Stereophonics have an unusually large following in Thailand. The Welsh trio will be in Bangkok this Saturday. If that isn’t enough to overwhelm you, they will be playing on a boat.

Not only is the event free, but Modern Dog will be supporting. The frustrating thing about this concert is that you won’t be able to watch the early bands and then make a swift exit before the main act start – not unless you fancy a swim.

The event is titled “Bangkok 100 Rock The Uncensored”. As far as I can tell, it’s organized by the same people who brought Ian Brown and Oasis over in 2006. Now that was a concert.

To register for one of 4,000 free places on the concert boat, go to http://www.100community.com/ and try and figure out how to navigate the website. Failing that, stay at home this Saturday.

I’m unsure if the boat will actually leave Klong Toey Port or if it will be docked for the duration of the show.

Well, that was one of the most arrogant posts you’ve made, and I’m dissapointed. Music is taste, and not objective, and labeling Stereophonics the dullest band on the planet is bordering on offending for people who has a different taste from you.
Now, what I really wonder is what kind of music you won’t find dull.

Don’t be disappointed. I normally wouldn’t lash out at one particular band, but I have a real dislike for the Stereophonics. I do, however, like Modern Dog.

To appease you, I’ll add the one Stereophonics song that I do like to the top-right video module, where it will stay for at least a couple of days.

The type of music I don’t find dull? Easy. Nick Drake, Nick Cave, Bjork, Joy Division, Roxy Music, Velvet Underground.

If you haven’t already seen it, pick up a copy of Control on DVD. About the short life of Ian Curtis.

if it’s on the same boat than the fashion tv parties my guess is that it will stay in the pier. it must be that boat, don’t think there is more than one boat as a party venu able to fit in 4k people. that one is an old ferry, so i guess it will be inside.
