We took The Scorpion out to the Beach Craft Fair in Maubara, Liquica, today. There wasn’t a whole lot going on there, but it was interesting to see how pretty much every single person I’ve ever met in Dili was there. JRH also made an appearance.

Perhaps the most interesting thing there was the justice minister’s new haircut. I really didn’t recognize her. What I did recognize, however, was the enormous Humvee she left in. The Dili Insider posted this week about two Humvees being spotted in Aileu. Here’s the pic the Dili Insider posted.

Although I don’t think that pic is from Timor-Leste, that’s what the justice minister’s ride looks like. I don’t know if she has opted for the armored or unarmored version, but these puppies go for $65,000-140,000.

Now, if I can make it to Liquica on The Scorpion, you gotta think that the roads would be OK for regular vehicles. Of course, the justice minister may not actually own the Humvee, but she was riding in it.
