Update on the Bangkok "acid" attack
Quick update about the attack I blogged about recently.
From Elizabeth's Twitter account:
Update: Police now thoroughly investigating our incident (we reported it to them the night it happened). Will update when given the go-ahead.
I never gave an interview to the Bangkok Post. Twitter updates as statements. Blog posts as records of experiences.Journalism's transforming.
Elizabeth has said the liquid used in the attack was probably alkaline or some kind of cleaning fluid.
Dwight Turner says he heard of another smilar attack nearby (in Ari):
Guy I just had lunch with ALSO had a friend go to the hospital after being sprayed in the eyes w/ some liquid this past week.

Just to make a controversial point, people are obsessed (or maybe it is the media), with big ticket items, while ignoring 'structural' problems. One person suffering an acid attack is a great personal tragedy, but a single anomalous incident such as this has no impact on the wider world. Contrast this with the state of child immunisation in Thailand, or lack thereof. Which is the greater tragedy? Which in fact deserves the greater media attention, the great action?
