Who killed the top 100?
June 12th, 2008 by The Lost Boy
I should be angry, but it’s no big deal. It happens. Someone exploited a security flaw in the top 100 and wiped all the blogs. I know how they did it and it’s my fault for leaving it vulnerable yesterday. I’ll add the blogs back into the system tonight. I don’t care who did it and I don’t intend to find out.
PS It wasn’t Kitty. Her blog is the only one there because I used it to test the add function.

Wow - you have any lead by now?
A disturbing Phuket link was uploaded for some hours replacing the blogs …
Wanna share your WP security hole? Not that sth similar happens to somebody else?

I admire your restraint. There are some idiots around, especially as your Top 100 is a resource everyone can use. Shame on the sad idiot that did it….

Aaah the joys of using insecure code as a blogging platform :)

It was my own fault. I could have prevented it.

Kitty could’ve done it in her sleep…?

gotta love arseholes… although it’s unfortunate it does give you the opportunity to finally add the one blog that has been missing from the top 100!

I’ll be adding the rest today. ;) I started doing it last night and then got bored. Would have been 100% easier if I had just backed up the database more recently. Lessons learned.

Maybe regular backups wouldn’t be too unwise.
