The past couple of days have been a bit of a blur. I returned to Timor-Leste on Thursday after a week in Bali and almost immediately I came down with this weird fever. I think it stems from the large amount of seawater I got up my nose while bodyboarding on Wednesday. I’ve had a steady trickle of seawater coming out of my nose for the last 48 hours.

So yesterday I went to bed at about 4 pm and got up about midday today. My night’s sleep basically revolved around these intense visions of silver lines, like blades, protruding from a silver sphere. I thought I was dead, or perhaps dying. It was most peculiar. I’m still in a bit of a daze now.

I thought I might have been coming down with swine flu, but I seem to be getting better now. Life in Dili is same old. I am glad to be back, but I’ve been giving some thought to my next move after Timor-Leste.

For now, though, I have two episodes of Lost to download, which should keep me entertained for as long as I can stay awake tonight.

  1. Sorry to hear about that Matt. BTW, were you bodyboarding near Kuta? I heard the water there may have some contamination. Anyway, hope you get over this thing quickly!

  2. Hmm, yes, it was at Kuta. And I did get a heck of a lot of it up my nose. I think most of it is out now, but I reckon that's the culprit. It was like having a short, sharp burst of flu.
